Sensei Larry Kooyman

Sensei Larry is a 27 year veteran of the martial arts with over 15 years of professional teaching experience.  Larry holds black belt ranks in multiple styles including a 1st degree black belt Judo and Japanese Jiu Jitsu, 2nd degree in Goju-Shorei Weapons and a 5th degree black belt in Goju-Shorei Karate. Larry is the current Director of Goju-Shorei Karate and Co-Founder of Family First Martial Arts Training Centers located in Franklin TN with his wife Sensei Dani.
Along with an impressive martial arts career, Larry prides himself on his fun and energetic teaching style.   His ability to teach to a wide range of individuals enables students of all ages to gain from his classes.  Larry fills each class with quality mixed martial arts and character development to improve all aspect of your life.

Sensei Dani Kooyman

Sensei Dani Kooyman is an accomplished martial artist.  Having been training for over 19 years, she has been featured in Black Belt Magazine and Graduated the prestigious Ultimate Black Belt Test.  A 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, Sensei Dani has taken to teaching to help improve the lives of her students.  She is the 7th woman in the world to earn a 1st degree Black Belt in Goju-Shorei Weapons. 
Sensei Dani’s teaching is nurturing and playful but holds firm to quality in technique. She holds a Bachelors in Natural Health and adds nutrition to much of her instruction.

Sensei Jessica Wauford

Jessica has been practicing the art of Tae Kwon Do for 10 years. During that time, she has won numerous awards including national and junior Olympic champion multiple times. She has also traveled all over the country, competing and demonstrating her love for this art. Jessica currently holds the rank of 3rd dan and will be testing for her 4th dan in August. Although she has a love for martial arts, her main passion is working with kids. She has been teaching Tae Kwon Do for about 6 years. Jessica has a natural gift of making class fun and enjoyable while teaching them important concepts and skills. Even though she is young, you can tell that she cares about each and every student that walks into class and will do whatever she can to help them succeed.

Sensei Taylor Wauford

Sensei Taylor is an aspiring instructor with a great love for martial arts. She has been involved with martial arts for over 11 years and has obtained the rank of 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo. Sensei Taylor has been an assistant instructor for 6 years as well. She has traveled all over the country, competing in countless number of tournaments over the years. She has a passion for what she does and has a drive to continue to practice and instruct for years to come.
